How we select Singapore's best businesses
How My Best Singapore's editors choose each ranking: island-wide research, lasting reputation, verified details, value for money and consistency by outlet.
In Singapore, almost every need has dozens of possible answers within a few MRT stops. Our rankings are meant to narrow that field to the few that deserve your time and money. Every ranking follows five steps, shaped by how Singaporeans actually choose.
Island-wide, not just central
We cast the net across the whole island for every category, from the CBD and Orchard to towns such as Tampines, Jurong East, Woodlands and Punggol. A neighbourhood clinic or a hawker stall in Bedok can earn a place just as easily as a well-known name in town.
Reputation, not just the queue
A long queue says something, but not everything. What we want to see is a name that has lasted: customers who return, recommend them to family and colleagues and describe the same qualities consistently. New openings need time to show they can keep it up.
Verified information
Before publishing, we make sure every business is still trading at its stated block and unit, reachable by phone or online, and keeping the opening hours we show. Hawker stalls with weekly rest days, mall shops affected by renovations and outlets that have relocated are checked with extra care.
Value for money
Singaporeans know what things should cost. We consider whether a business offers fair value for the quality it delivers, whether that is a plate of char kway teow, a home renovation or a course of physiotherapy. Clear pricing and honest quotes count in a business's favour.
Consistency across outlets
Many Singapore brands run several outlets, and they are not always equal. Where it makes sense, we judge the specific location rather than the brand as a whole, so that a ranking reflects the outlet you would actually visit. A chain's flagship and its newest branch can be very different experiences.
Updates and corrections
Outlets open, relocate and close constantly in Singapore, so we review our rankings on a regular cycle. Mistakes, closures and suggestions can all go to info@mybestsingapore.com; please mention the business name and the nearest MRT station.
A word on hawker centres
Hawker stalls keep their own hours, often close for a weekly rest day and sometimes sell out early. When a centre shuts for its periodic cleaning, every stall in it closes too, so it is worth checking before you make a special trip.
