With a rating of 4.4 stars, this establishment offers a variety of dining options including Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner. Customers can enjoy their meal in a casual atmosphere, perfect for groups and families with children.

  • Difficult to find decent Singapore mee siam in Singapore these days. I would recommend this place. Located at a corner of a food court. The Singapore mee siam has a slight variation, the gravy is cloudy, I think santan wan an added ingredient.
  • Mee siam had substantial tanginess which was a pleasant surprise. But mee siam flavor was overpowered by the coconut used. Mee rebus was described as starchy and tasteless.
  • Pretty good mee siam if you are in the area. Nice gravy, and there is an option to have it with or without bean sprouts. Note: stall isn’t officially halal, but all items are made without pork or pork products.
  • One of the best Mee Siam, Mee Rebus and Lontong stalls in Singapore. The lady will squeeze the lime on the Mee Siam for you so you won't get your fingers dirty. They've stopped serving Lontong though due to difficulty in sourcing good quality rice cakes.

Map of Lontong in Singapore

Singapore is a culinary paradise known for its diverse food offerings. One popular dish is lontong, a traditional Indonesian rice cake dish served with vegetables and a rich coconut-based gravy. If you're craving this flavorful and comforting meal in Singapore, check out our map to discover all the best places to indulge in delicious lontong.

What is Lontong in Singapore?

Lontong is a popular dish in Singapore that consists of compressed rice cakes cooked in a coconut milk-based broth. The rice cakes are typically cut into small cubes and served with a variety of vegetables, tofu, and sometimes boiled eggs. The dish is commonly found at hawker centers and food stalls throughout the city.

Lontong is a savory and hearty meal that is often enjoyed for breakfast or as a light lunch or dinner. The rich and creamy coconut milk broth is flavored with a blend of traditional spices, giving the dish a flavorful and aromatic profile. Lontong is typically eaten with a side of sambal, a spicy chili paste that adds a kick of heat to the dish.

Where can I find Lontong in Singapore?

Lontong can be found at numerous hawker centers and food stalls across Singapore. Some popular places to try this delicious dish include Old Airport Road Hawker Center, Maxwell Food Center, and Adam Road Food Center. These food centers are known for their wide variety of local dishes, including Lontong.

If you prefer a more upscale dining experience, there are also restaurants in Singapore that serve Lontong as part of their menu. These establishments often put a modern twist on the traditional dish while still staying true to its roots.

Is Lontong in Singapore vegan-friendly?

While Lontong in Singapore traditionally includes ingredients like vegetables, tofu, and rice cakes, it is important to note that the broth is made with coconut milk, which may not be suitable for those following a strict vegan diet. However, some food stalls and restaurants offer vegan versions of Lontong that use plant-based ingredients and omit any animal products.

If you are unsure whether a particular Lontong dish is vegan-friendly, it is always best to ask the food vendor or restaurant staff about the ingredients used. They may be able to provide you with alternative options or suggest other dishes that meet your dietary preferences.

How is Lontong different from other rice-based dishes in Singapore?

Lontong is often compared to other rice-based dishes in Singapore, such as Nasi Lemak and Hainanese Chicken Rice. While these dishes all feature rice as a central ingredient, Lontong distinguishes itself with its compressed rice cakes and coconut milk broth. Nasi Lemak is typically served with fragrant coconut rice, fried anchovies, peanuts, and a spicy sambal, while Hainanese Chicken Rice consists of poached chicken served with seasoned rice and various sauces.

Unlike Nasi Lemak and Hainanese Chicken Rice, Lontong has a softer and more porridge-like texture due to the rice cakes soaking up the flavorful coconut milk broth. The dish also offers a unique blend of spices and vegetables that give it a distinct taste profile compared to other rice-based dishes in Singapore.
